DeAndre Yedlin Signs Real Salt Lake Contract Extension Through 2027

Real Salt Lake has announced the contract extension of defender DeAndre Yedlin, securing his services until 2027, with an option for an additional year. This news, revealed on Monday, underscores the club’s dedication to retaining the 32-year-old right back, who was acquired through a trade with FC Cincinnati on August 21 for roughly $300,000 in general allocation money for 2025.

Since joining RSL, Yedlin has made an immediate impact, participating in seven league matches and scoring his first MLS goal since 2013 during a significant 3-1 win against Austin FC on September 27. Expressing his gratitude and eagerness for the future, Yedlin remarked, “RSL is now home for the foreseeable future, and I’m excited to build upon my time here over the last few months.”

Over the course of his career, Yedlin has played in 183 matches, registering two goals and 17 assists for various teams, including the Seattle Sounders, Inter Miami, and FC Cincinnati. His international experience is equally impressive, having earned 81 caps for the U.S. Men’s National Team (USMNT) and competing in FIFA World Cup tournaments in both 2014 and 2022. Additionally, Yedlin has played in England for clubs like Tottenham Hotspur, Sunderland, and Newcastle United, as well as having a stint with Galatasaray in Turkey.

Yedlin’s contract extension instills a sense of optimism for Real Salt Lake as they strive to assemble a competitive squad for upcoming seasons. His vast experience and leadership will be crucial as the club aims to foster a strong team culture and pursue success in future MLS campaigns. This decision not only demonstrates RSL’s confidence in Yedlin as a pivotal player but also aligns with the broader league trend of valuing loyalty and the long-term contributions of seasoned athletes.

Fans of Real Salt Lake can eagerly anticipate Yedlin’s impactful role in the club’s future endeavors, as he looks to enhance the team’s performance in the years ahead.
