The Kansas City Chiefs are reportedly seeking to interview Eric Bieniemy, the current running backs coach for the Chicago Bears, for their vacant offensive coordinator position. This move comes as anticipation grows that the current offensive coordinator, Matt Nagy, could be on the verge of securing a head coaching role elsewhere.

Dianna Russini has noted that Bieniemy is considered the leading candidate to return to the Chiefs’ coaching staff. The 56-year-old has a rich history with Kansas City, having played a significant role in their offense during his first tenure, which began in 2013 when he was hired as the running backs coach. He was elevated to offensive coordinator in 2018 and signed an extension in 2021, only to leave for the Washington Commanders in early 2023. After one season, he departed the Commanders and took up the position of associate head coach and offensive coordinator at UCLA.

Most recently, Bieniemy moved to the Bears, where he has spent the 2024 season as their running backs coach. His experience and familiarity with the Chiefs’ system make him a strong candidate for the role, and it appears that Kansas City is eager to bring him back into the fold.

Fans will be watching closely for updates as the Chiefs move forward in their search for an offensive coordinator.
