Audiences can look forward to screenings of his iconic films at BFI Southbank and BFI IMAX, as well as selections available on BFI Player. The lineup features not only his celebrated masterpieces but also his inventive short films, documentary portraits—including a preview of the new documentary “Welcome to Lynchland”—and a Twin Peaks-inspired immersive installation.

The season kicks off on January 7 with “THE CINEMATIC VISIONS OF DAVID LYNCH,” featuring insights from notable contributors like writer Simran Hans and author Tom Huddleston. They will delve into Lynch’s unique visual style and sound design, while also reflecting on his significant impact on filmmakers and artists across genres.

A host of screenings at BFI Southbank will include classics such as “ERASERHEAD” (1977), “THE ELEPHANT MAN” (1980)—introduced by actor and filmmaker Dexter Fletcher on January 27—”DUNE” (1984), “BLUE VELVET” (1986), “WILD AT HEART” (1990), and others. Film enthusiasts can experience Lynch’s artistry on the big screen at BFI IMAX, with select screenings on January 11, 12, 18, February 1, and January 25.

Additionally, a special event titled “THE SHORT FILMS OF DAVID LYNCH” on January 11 will showcase six of his short works, including “The Alphabet” (1968) and “The Grandmother” (1970), alongside all episodes of the animated web series “DUMBLAND” (2002).

Fans of “TWIN PEAKS” will also have plenty to enjoy, with a pristine 35mm print of the original pilot screened on January 12, introduced by the BFI National Archive’s Senior Curator, Lisa Kerrigan. A standout highlight will be the screening of “TWIN PEAKS: FIRE WALK WITH ME” (1992) on January 13, followed by a discussion focused on Lynch’s relevance to the trans community, hosted by Sarah Cleary.

The season will also feature the return of the Philosophical Screens series, a relaxed screening of “WILD AT HEART” for neurodivergent audiences, themed Sip and Paint sessions, a unique audiovisual experience at the David Lynch VJ Night, and an interactive quiz on January 30. Additionally, City Lit will conduct a four-week course, “CITY LIT AT THE BFI: THE INTERPRETATIONS OF LYNCHIAN DREAMS,” offering various perspectives on Lynch’s cinematic exploration of reality and dreams.

Tickets for the screenings at BFI Southbank will go on sale on December 1 for BFI Patrons, December 2 for BFI Members, and December 4 for the general public.
