Today, American speedskater Greta Myers shared an energetic video on social media, featuring herself and fellow Team USA athletes cycling on stationary bikes. The post, aptly captioned “sweat zone,” showcased the team’s dedication and camaraderie. Casey Dawson, another member of the speedskating team, revealed that the athletes had taken over a floor in the Team USA house specifically for their cycling sessions.

In an interview with NBC News at the Milan Olympic Village this morning, both athletes expressed their excitement for the Olympic experience. Eagerly embracing her first Olympic Games, 21-year-old Myers from Minnesota described the event as a “childhood dream.” While she humorously noted that she wasn’t a “pasta girly,” she has been enjoying the local cuisine, particularly focaccia bread. She emphasized the importance of utilizing the facilities available, highlighting their training regimen that includes lifting, cycling, and yoga.

Meanwhile, 25-year-old Dawson from Utah, who previously competed in the 2022 Beijing Games where he secured a bronze medal, shared a contrasting experience from that event. He noted that due to the pandemic, the previous Olympics were heavily restricted: “It was all shut down last time.” However, this year at the Milan Cortina Games, athletes have the opportunity to explore outside the village, immerse themselves in the city, and interact with competitors from around the world.

Dawson, who is optimistic about his chances, expressed a heartfelt motivation to perform for his hometown, friends, and the United States, stating, “I’m looking forward to skating for everyone I know.”

The camaraderie and enthusiasm displayed by Myers and Dawson exemplify the spirit of the Olympics, as athletes pursue their dreams while representing their country on a global stage.
