A former first-round draft pick of the Buffalo Bills, linebacker Tremaine Edmunds, is set to explore new opportunities in the NFL. As free agency approaches on March 11, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports that the Chicago Bears have given Edmunds permission to seek a trade.

According to Bears Wire, Edmunds has a notable chance of being traded and is expected to become a salary cap casualty for the Bears. This strategic move comes as Chicago aims to manage its financial commitments effectively. If Edmunds is moved or released, the Bears could save as much as $15 million in salary cap space.

Multiple teams are reportedly showing interest in acquiring Edmunds’ services, including the Tennessee Titans, Las Vegas Raiders, and New York Giants, though his former team, the Buffalo Bills, is not among those interested in bringing him back.

Edmunds, 27, signed a four-year, $72 million contract with the Bears in 2023 and is heading into the final year of that deal. He was originally drafted by the Bills in 2018 at No. 16 overall, alongside quarterback Josh Allen. During his time in Buffalo, Edmunds made a significant impact, earning Pro Bowl honors twice.

As teams look to strengthen their rosters ahead of next season, Edmunds may find a new home that allows him to continue showcasing his talents and contributing to a team’s success.
