The Ba Muslim futsal team celebrated a significant victory at the FMF Muslim Futsal IDC, securing the championship trophy after defeating Valelevu 4-2 in an exciting final held at Suva’s FMF Gymnasium. The match showcased the team’s strong performance, with Imran Wali Khan, Faazil Faizul Ali, and Zaim Khan each contributing goals to the team’s triumph. Valelevu’s efforts included a goal from Zishaan Nasibdar, but Ba’s early lead, including a 2-0 advantage at halftime, proved decisive.
Coach Amit Kumar expressed satisfaction with the win, describing it as a mission accomplished. The triumph in the final highlighted Ba’s resilience and skill, reinforcing their reputation within Fijian futsal.
In related events, the Maigania under-15 team also had a successful outing, winning their title with a 2-1 victory over Nadi. Additionally, in the Legends final, the Suva team, captained by Intiaz Khan, outperformed Nakasi with a score of 3-0. In a nail-biting match for the Masters division, Makoi edged out North East 3-1 on penalties after finishing 2-2 after extra time. Maiganya also claimed the Plate final by defeating Navua 2-1.
The high level of competition and the number of participating teams reflect the growing popularity of futsal within the community, showcasing promising talent across various age groups.
