TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – In a remarkable display of talent, the Alabama men’s basketball team saw its players earn prestigious honors from the Southeastern Conference this week. Labaron Philon Jr. was recognized as the SEC Player of the Week, while Amari Allen took home the title of SEC Freshman of the Week, as announced by the league office on Monday morning.

These accolades come on the heels of a decisive victory over the No. 8 ranked Illinois team in Chicago, where both players showcased their skills. Philon Jr. delivered an impressive performance, scoring 24 points, alongside five assists and two rebounds. Meanwhile, Allen made significant contributions with nine points, 11 rebounds, and four assists—demonstrating his all-around game.

This marks the second time Philon Jr. has received the SEC Player of the Week honor this season, further solidifying his position as one of the league’s standout performers. He continues to shine with his third 20-point game of the season, becoming the only player in the SEC to rank among the top three in both scoring (No. 3 with an average of 20.5 points per game) and assists (No. 3 with 5.8 assists per game).
