Cam Jordan has delivered an outstanding performance this season, affirming his crucial role with the New Orleans Saints. The veteran defensive end has recorded an impressive 10½ sacks during the 2025 NFL season, proving that he remains a force to be reckoned with at the age of 36.

As he approaches free agency in March 2026, Jordan is expected to enter contract negotiations with the Saints. He has expressed strong support from his wife, Nikki, who encourages him to continue his career. “Until they don’t want me anymore, this is where I’ve always wanted to be,” Jordan affirmed.

His resurgence this season is particularly remarkable considering his struggles in 2023 and 2024, where he only managed two and four sacks, respectively. The notable jump of 6½ sacks from last year marks one of the most significant turnarounds for a player over the age of 36. Saints General Manager Mickey Loomis admitted that they were surprised by Jordan’s resurgence but are thrilled with his performance.

Jordan joins an elite group of players who have recorded at least 10 sacks in a season after turning 36, alongside notable names such as Reggie White, Chris Doleman, and Bruce Smith. These ten players have set the standard high, with Jordan’s achievement underscoring his exceptional talent.

A key component of his performance has been how he managed his role within the Saints’ defense. Though he started all 17 games, Jordan participated in just over half of the defensive snaps to preserve his energy for critical plays. His production noticeably increased in the latter part of the season, culminating in four sacks during the final three games, when his playing time saw a rise.

Jordan’s snap count of 590 this season places him among players with the lowest snap totals relative to their sack output. He indicated that the Saints have consistently shown they want him to stay, and he is firm on not accepting a significant pay cut in upcoming negotiations.

As Jordan and the Saints approach contract discussions, his exceptional season could significantly influence their strategy moving forward. His ability to perform at a high level at an advanced age highlights the potential for extended contributions to the team, setting the stage for a promising negotiation process.
