Assemblies of God High School’s under-19 rugby league team showcased their talent by achieving a remarkable 32-6 victory over Saint Vincent College, featuring a squad largely comprised of players aged 16 and 17. This youthful team demonstrated impressive skill and teamwork throughout the match, securing a solid win.
Technical manager Taitusi Saudole expressed his satisfaction with the team’s dedication and performance, emphasizing the importance of their developmental approach. “We are very happy with the boys’ effort and teamwork today,” Saudole remarked, highlighting that despite their young age, the players displayed significant determination on the field.
Looking forward to the 2026 Fiji Secondary Schools Rugby League competition, Saudole noted the need for improvement in several areas. He stressed the importance of focusing on strength and conditioning, given the youthfulness of the squad. “We also need to work on technical aspects such as breakdowns, scrums, and quicker responses during penalties,” he added.
Assemblies of God High School is keen to build on their performance from last year, where they reached the elimination round. “Our goal this year is to progress beyond elimination and make a deeper run in the competition,” Saudole stated.
With multiple teams participating this season, Assemblies of God High School is establishing a strong foundation for sustained success in the rugby league arena. Their recent victory over Saint Vincent College serves as an optimistic beginning for their campaign, reflecting the potential for growth and achievement in the sport.
