The social media platform X is currently facing a significant outage, which has affected thousands of users across the United States and other regions. Many have reported difficulties accessing the service, with PCMag confirming its own inability to gain access.

As per reports from Downdetector, the issues began early on Monday, February 16, around 8 a.m. EST, and the number of complaints surged rapidly, peaking at nearly 42,000 reports across the US. Although the volume of reports has since decreased somewhat, users continue to face challenges.

PCMag showcased that attempts to view specific posts or pages resulted in a black screen displaying the brand’s logo. When trying to access the main homepage, users encountered a message indicating “Something went wrong. Try reloading,” but attempts to reload simply yielded the same result.

Interestingly, a spike in reports regarding outages associated with Cloudflare services was noted on Downdetector around the same timeframe. Cloudflare’s previous outages, such as one that occurred in November, had severe repercussions, taking down not only X but also other platforms like ChatGPT. X faced another outage on January 16, which resolved relatively quickly, though it remains uncertain if this latest disruption is connected to Cloudflare’s services.

Official updates from X regarding the ongoing issues are not currently accessible through the platform, making it difficult to determine the timeline for service restoration. Unlike several other social media companies, X lacks a dedicated status page that would provide updates during outages.

PCMag will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as more information becomes available or when the platform begins to show signs of recovery.
