LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The National Weather Service (NWS) in Louisville has issued a winter weather advisory for parts of south central Indiana and east central and north central Kentucky due to the forecast of several inches of snow.

The advisory will be in effect from 1 p.m. Saturday until 7 a.m. Sunday and covers several counties across both states. In Kentucky, the impacted areas include Jefferson, Oldham, Trimble, Henry, Shelby, Franklin, Scott, Harrison, Carroll, Fayette, Bourbon, Nicholas, and Clark counties. In Indiana, the advisory applies to Orange, Washington, Scott, Jefferson, Floyd, Clark, Jackson, and Jennings counties.

Cities affected by the winter weather advisory in Kentucky include Louisville, La Grange, New Castle, Winchester, Lexington, Carlisle, Bedford, Shelbyville, Paris, Milton, Georgetown, Cynthiana, and Frankfort. In Indiana, the advisory encompasses Jeffersonville, New Albany, Paoli, Madison, Scottsburg, and Salem.

The NWS expects snow accumulation in the range of one to three inches in these areas, which may result in slippery road conditions. Residents are urged to exercise caution while traveling, particularly during the Sunday morning commute, as the hazardous conditions could significantly impact road safety.

As temperatures drop, it is also advisable to take extra care when stepping outside. Icy conditions can develop on stairs, sidewalks, and driveways, increasing the risk of falls and injuries. By being cautious and prepared, individuals can help ensure their safety during this winter weather event.
