Winter Storm Beau is poised to impact Northeast Wisconsin this weekend, just shortly after the region experienced its first named winter storm of the season. Forecasts indicate that Beau will deliver between 5 to 9 inches of snow across much of the area on Saturday, with the heaviest snowfall occurring in the afternoon and evening hours.
A Winter Storm Warning has been issued for areas from Green Bay southward, extending into central Illinois. Some southern Lakeshore counties, including Manitowoc, Kewaunee, Sheboygan, and Fond du Lac, may see even greater totals, potentially reaching 7 to 10 inches. This increase in snow accumulation can be attributed to the relatively warm waters of Lake Michigan, which are expected to enhance snowfall in these regions.
Snow will begin to fall Saturday morning in the southern areas, gradually moving northward by midday. Accumulating snow is anticipated between 10 a.m. Saturday and 7 a.m. Sunday. Following the storm, northwesterly winds may gust up to 30 miles per hour, leading to blowing and drifting of the freshly fallen snow.
This storm follows Winter Storm Aurora, which recently brought 1 to 3 inches of snow to various locations across the region and caused traffic disruptions ahead of Thanksgiving. Residents are encouraged to prepare for the impending conditions to ensure safe travel and stay updated on weather developments as the storm approaches.
