Weston Paszkiewicz, a 10-year-old boy who won the hearts of Minnesota Wild fans, has sadly passed away after his courageous battle with cancer. His mother, Danielle Paszkiewicz, shared the heartbreaking news on CaringBridge, revealing that Weston died on Tuesday night while enjoying a hockey game with his family.

“He has completed his battle with cancer and as our kids say, is now cancer free,” she wrote. “Weston, you are the most courageous, strong, resilient, incredible person ever and we love you forever.”

Earlier this year, Weston realized a dream by becoming a member of the Minnesota Wild, having made his Make-A-Wish request to sign a one-day contract with the team in October. This moment was a testament to his spirit and love for the game.

In honor of Weston, the Minnesota Wild invited hockey families to leave a hockey stick outside on Wednesday as a tribute to the young boy who inspired many. The team expressed their sorrow in a statement, emphasizing, “We are devastated to learn of Weston’s passing. He was such a courageous young man that will be greatly missed by everyone that had the opportunity to know him. Our hearts are with his family and friends, and all those that were impacted by Weston’s brave fight.”

Weston’s journey with cancer began nearly a year ago, when he started feeling unwell around Christmas 2022. After a series of medical visits, he was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia and commenced treatment.

Weston’s legacy lives on in the hearts of those who admired his strength and perseverance, reminding everyone of the importance of kindness and courage in the face of adversity. The community continues to rally around his family in this incredibly difficult time, demonstrating the profound impact he had during his short life.
