Cameron Smotherman’s scheduled bout against Ricky Turcios at UFC 324 has been cancelled following a disturbing incident at the weigh-ins. The bantamweight fighter experienced a frightening fall shortly after successfully making weight, leading to immediate medical attention.

On Friday morning, Smotherman weighed in at 135.5 pounds for his matchup but tragically collapsed just moments later. After staggering off the scale, he fell face-first onto the stage floor and appeared to be unconscious. Witnesses reported that he convulsed briefly before being assisted by officials from the Nevada commission and his team.

The concerning incident was captured on video, highlighting the gravity of the situation. Smotherman’s current medical condition is not yet known, but he was promptly taken to a hospital for evaluation.

Entering this weekend, Smotherman held a record of 12 wins and 6 losses. He faced challenges in his recent fights, having lost two consecutive bouts to Serhiy Sidey and Ricky Simón in 2025. His last victory came in October 2024 when he made a successful debut in the UFC against Jake Hadley, winning by unanimous decision.

Despite this unfortunate turn of events, UFC 324 will continue as planned with a total of 12 fights on the card. The event, set to unfold at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, also marks the launch of UFC’s new $7.7 billion broadcasting deal with Paramount, a significant milestone for the organization. The MMA community is undoubtedly hopeful for Smotherman’s quick recovery and future in the sport.
