Week 12 Waiver Wire RB Breakouts: Tucker, Wilson, Gainwell, Tuten

Week 12 Waiver Wire RB Breakouts: Tucker, Wilson, Gainwell, Tuten

As the fantasy football season progresses into Week 12, managers who find themselves out of playoff contention may start overlooking valuable players, creating opportunities for savvy owners to capitalize on the waiver wire. In the wake of several injuries and standout performances, numerous running backs have emerged as top priorities for pickups.

One key player to consider is Sean Tucker from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. With only 25% of fantasy teams rostering him, Tucker made a significant impact in Week 11, amassing 140 total yards on 21 touches, including three touchdowns for an impressive 33 fantasy points in a thrilling game against the Buffalo Bills. His standout performance could make him a must-add, especially if fellow running back Bucky Irving remains sidelined due to injury.

Emanuel Wilson of the Green Bay Packers is another player worth noting. After the team lost starting running back Josh Jacobs to a knee injury during their victory over the New York Giants, Wilson stepped up and recorded 11 carries for 40 yards and a touchdown, along with a nine-yard reception, totaling 13.4 fantasy points. If Jacobs is forced to miss any games, Wilson has the potential to step into a solid RB2 role, reminiscent of his strong finish in late 2024 when he was a top-10 running back for three weeks.

Kenneth Gainwell of the Pittsburgh Steelers also seized an opportunity when starting running back Jaylen Warren left the game against the Cincinnati Bengals with an ankle injury. Gainwell capitalized, rushing for 24 yards and catching seven passes for 81 yards, scoring two touchdowns and finishing with 26 fantasy points. Should Warren’s injury linger, Gainwell could see increased usage, solidifying his status as an RB2 or RB3.

Lastly, Bhayshul Tuten from the Jacksonville Jaguars emerged as a surprising contributor early in the team’s matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers. Tuten received significant touches, finishing with 15 carries for 74 yards and a touchdown, contributing 13.4 fantasy points. Although he suffered an ankle injury later in the game, his performance highlighted his potential value, particularly for fantasy managers seeking running back depth or those with Etienne on their roster.

Week 12 presents a crucial window for fantasy managers looking to improve their rosters through waiver wire moves, especially with the emergence of these running backs ready to step into larger roles.
