The grand opening of the $6 million ShopPlus Supermarket, Foodies Delightful Restaurant, and Dreams Bakery in Waimicia, Rakiraki, marks a significant milestone for the rural development of Ra Province. This initiative is poised to create immediate job opportunities, generating 50 positions with prospects for a total of 60 jobs in the near future.

During the inauguration, Assistant Minister for Justice Josaia Niudamu emphasized that this new venture transcends mere infrastructure investment; it represents a meaningful commitment to uplifting the community and its residents. Niudamu highlighted that this initiative, led by local entrepreneur George Shiu Raj, aims to reduce travel distances for residents while energizing local suppliers and fostering business growth throughout the region.

“For many families in Ra, these developments offer new income avenues, training opportunities, and a pathway to greater financial stability. This entire project represents a construction investment of over $6 million, a clear testament to the confidence in Ra’s economic potential,” stated Niudamu.

He noted that Waimicia is emerging as a vital commercial center for nearby communities including Nalawa, Nakorotubu, Wainibuka, and Saivou. The government’s support for George Shiu Raj’s efforts underlines the commitment to invest in the economic prosperity of Ra Province and its inhabitants.

The ShopPlus Supermarket, Foodies Delightful Restaurant, and Dreams Bakery are expected to bolster local employment, provide support to small suppliers, create welcoming spaces for families, and significantly contribute to the long-term economic growth of the province. This initiative presents a hopeful outlook for the future of Ra, as it embodies a collaborative effort toward sustainable development and community empowerment.
