Vikings name Max Brosmer starting QB for Seahawks clash

The Minnesota Vikings have named Max Brosmer as their starting quarterback for this Sunday’s matchup against the Seattle Seahawks. Vikings head coach Kevin O’Connell made the announcement on Friday, explaining that the decision came as J.J. McCarthy continues to recover from a concussion, which will sideline him for a sixth game this season.

Brosmer expressed his enthusiasm after Friday’s practice, highlighting the strong sense of unity on the team. “Breaking down the team today was really cool,” he said. “I felt there was a really cool unity with the team, and I’m proud and honored to be a part of that. And I’m excited for the team to go showcase that this weekend.”

The 2024 college football standout has garnered support from teammates, including star wide receiver Justin Jefferson. Jefferson noted Brosmer’s skill, stating, “I’ve seen him all of training camp, watching from afar. Of course, I’ve seen him in preseason games. He’s definitely a good quarterback. To be able to fit in with this offense, and create a spark for us, that’s something that we really need right now.”

Brosmer’s girlfriend, Katie Lorden, is also expected to back him at Lumen Field for his first NFL start, having been a constant supporter during his college career with the Minnesota Golden Gophers, where he completed 66.5% of his passes for 2,828 yards, 18 touchdowns, and six interceptions during the 2024 season.

With confidence in Brosmer’s abilities growing among his teammates and coaching staff, this weekend’s game presents a significant opportunity for the young quarterback to shine and potentially lead the Vikings to a much-needed victory against the Seahawks. Coach O’Connell emphasized the Excitement surrounding Brosmer’s opportunity, saying, “I think there’s confidence in Max, and I’m excited to see him as a guy that I’ve been watching behind the scenes do a lot of work.”

Brosmer’s debut has become a narrative of hope for the Vikings amid a challenging season, and fans are eager to see what he can bring to the team as they look to make a statement this weekend.
