Vijay Singh, the 62-year-old veteran of the PGA Tour Champions, has made a significant move by utilizing his one-time exemption on the PGA Tour’s career money list to compete in 2026. This decision has sparked interest among golf enthusiasts, particularly as he returns to the main tour to participate in the Sony Open in Hawaii, a tournament he previously won in 2005.

Singh’s illustrious career includes 34 victories on the PGA Tour, placing him 14th on the all-time wins list. Throughout his career, he has led the Tour in earnings three times and currently stands eighth in total earnings with over $71 million. His impressive performance in the early rounds of the Sony Open demonstrated his enduring skill; he opened with a 2-under 68, despite encountering two double bogeys, and followed up with an even-par 70.

As he exited the course at Waialae Country Club in Honolulu, Singh found himself at 2 under, a score that was projected to be close to the cut line. As the second round progressed, the potential cut fluctuated significantly, giving Singh’s performance an added layer of significance.

Looking ahead, Singh is also set to compete in the PGA Tour Champions season-opener at Hualalai for the Mitsubishi, where he will join 41 other players. His participation not only highlights his remarkable longevity in the sport but also raises anticipation for both his current and future performances in golf.
