Unsettled weather conditions continue to impact Fiji, with a strong wind gust of 70 kilometers per hour registered in Nadi last night, as reported by the Fiji Meteorological Service. The intense winds contributed to an incident in Sabeto, where a power post belonging to Energy Fiji Limited collapsed near Muslim Primary School around 11:15 PM. Fortunately, there were no injuries reported, although residents have been advised to exercise caution during these challenging weather conditions.

In a related update, the heavy rain warning that was previously issued for the entire Fiji Group has now been downgraded to a heavy rain alert. The Weather Office indicates that a trough of low pressure, accompanied by clouds and rain, continues to affect the area. As a result, occasional rain is anticipated across most regions, with isolated thunderstorms and localized heavy downpours possible.

As the community braces for ongoing unsettled weather, the downgrade from a warning to an alert may provide a sense of hope that conditions could be improving, allowing residents to stay vigilant while minimizing disruption.
