The UNLV men’s basketball team is gearing up for an exciting matchup against Saint Joseph’s this Thursday at the Thomas & Mack Center, with tip-off scheduled for 7 p.m. The game will be broadcast on SSSEN and available on radio at KWWN (1100 AM, 100.9 FM).
Currently standing at a 2-2 record, the Rebels are coming off a strong 92-78 victory over Memphis, marking an impressive performance in coach Josh Pastner’s return to his former team. UNLV has shown remarkable offensive prowess, scoring at least 81 points in all four games this season and averaging a high 91.8 points per game, ranking them among the top scorers in Division I basketball.
Key players for UNLV include senior guard Howie Fleming Jr. and freshman guard Issac Williamson, both of whom scored career-highs of 25 points in the Memphis game. Fleming also contributed significantly on the boards, recording a game-high 12 rebounds for his first double-double this season. Williamson currently leads the team with an average of 18 points per game, while junior guard Dra Gibbs-Lawhorn and senior forward Kimani Hamilton follow closely with averages of 15.3 points each. Freshman forward Naas Cunningham (12.3) and Fleming (11) further bolster the team’s scoring capabilities.
On the other side of the court, Saint Joseph’s enters the game with a 2-2 record as well, recently suffering an 83-74 defeat against Penn. The Hawks showcased a balanced scoring effort in that game, with four players scoring in double figures. Sophomore guard Deuce Jones II led the team with 24 points and is currently averaging 17.3 points per game, along with a 33.3 percent shooting rate from beyond the arc.
As both teams look to secure a positive outcome, fans can expect a competitive and high-scoring contest at the Thomas & Mack Center.
