On Friday, Dana White took to Instagram to reveal significant news regarding UFC 327, which will feature a highly anticipated main event for the vacant light heavyweight title. The championship bout will see Carlos Ulberg go up against former champion Jiri Prochazka.
White noted that the fight was arranged following Alex Pereira’s decision to vacate the title. Pereira, who previously reclaimed the championship after a stunning first-round knockout of Magomed Ankalaev last year, is now focused on achieving a historic feat by aiming to become the first fighter to hold titles in three different divisions. His choice to step aside allows for Ulberg and Prochazka to fight for the title and advance the division.
Adding excitement to the card, the co-main event will feature Joshua Van defending his flyweight title against Tatsuro Taira. This marks Van’s first defense since he won the title in December from Pantoja, whose injury resulted in the fight being called off.
Scheduled for April 11 at the Kaseya Center in Miami, Florida, UFC 327 also has tickets available for fans eager to attend the event.
In addition to the title bouts, White announced several other matchups that will complete the UFC 327 fight card. Notably, in lightweight competition, No. 12 ranked Beneil Dariush will face off against No. 14 ranked Manuel Torres. Dariush is coming off a knockout loss to Benoit Saint Denis, while Torres enters the octagon on a two-fight win streak, having achieved consecutive first-round TKOs against Drew Dober and Grant Dawson.
The featherweight clash between Aaron Pico and former two-division Bellator champion Patricio Pitbull adds further intrigue to the lineup. This will be Pico’s second appearance in the UFC after suffering a loss in his debut to Lerone Murphy. Pitbull, on the other hand, redeems himself with a recent victory over Dan Ige in his UFC debut.
Both fighters have a history from their days in Bellator, where their paths didn’t cross until now. With Pitbull, a seasoned competitor boasting multiple titles, and Pico eager to find his footing in the UFC, this matchup carries significant stakes for their futures in the promotion.
