First responders were dispatched to DuPage Airport on Wednesday afternoon following an aircraft crash. The West Chicago Police Department reported that they were assisting the West Chicago Fire Protection District and personnel from the DuPage Airport Authority in response to the incident, which involved a Piper PA-30 plane.

According to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), the aircraft took off from DuPage Airport around 1:50 p.m. and subsequently crashed while attempting to land. At the time of the crash, two individuals were reported to be onboard the plane, though details regarding their conditions have yet to be disclosed.

The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has initiated an investigation into the accident. The DuPage Airport, situated approximately 29 miles west of downtown Chicago, is operated by the DuPage Airport Authority and is recognized for its various aviation services, including corporate, recreational, and charter flights.

Authorities are calling for anyone who may have witnessed the crash or possesses relevant surveillance footage to reach out to the NTSB at witness@ntsb.gov. Following standard procedure, a preliminary report concerning the incident will be made available in the NTSB’s investigations database within the next 30 days.
