A senior White House official confirmed to Reuters that there are currently no arrangements for Trump to meet with Putin in the foreseeable future, despite a recent “productive call” between Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.
Initially, Trump had shown optimism for a summit in Hungary to discuss the situation in Ukraine. However, Putin’s unwillingness to entertain any compromises has hindered those discussions. At present, Russia maintains control over the entire Luhansk province and approximately 75% of neighboring Donetsk.
