MMA Fighting provided live updates on the highly anticipated showdown between Tony Ferguson and Warren Spencer, part of the Misfits Mania event held at Duty Free Tennis Stadium in Dubai, UAE, where they competed for the Misfits middleweight title.
Tony Ferguson, a former UFC interim lightweight champion and winner of The Ultimate Fighter 13, has faced a tough stretch in his MMA career, having lost eight consecutive fights before parting ways with the UFC in January. Since transitioning to boxing, the 41-year-old known as “El Cucuy” made his Misfits debut in August, clinching the Misfits interim middleweight title with a controversial stoppage victory over Salt Papi at Misfits 22.
His opponent, Warren Spencer, is a U.K. influencer and former friend of high-profile fighter Andrew Tate. Spencer has had a modest record in his boxing career, standing at 3-2, and is recognized for his loss to Dillon Danis during the inaugural Misfits MMA light heavyweight title fight in August.
As the bout began, excitement filled the air after an eventful undercard set the stage for the main event. Although there was a delay for Spencer’s walkout, he eventually entered the ring dressed in gold shorts with a furry cape, escorted by a performance from Quevo and the classic anthem “Back in Black” by AC/DC. Ferguson, on the other hand, made a quicker entrance, donning a white robe and trunks, to the sounds of “The Party Has Just Begun.”
The first round saw both fighters starting cautiously, exchanging jabs while Ferguson displayed his experience and ring generalship. Spencer struggled to mount an effective offensive, as Ferguson advanced, landing clean shots and combinations throughout the round. MMA Fighting scored the first round 10-9 in favor of Ferguson.
Live updates for rounds two through six will follow as the match continues. With Ferguson determined to make a successful transition to boxing and Spencer looking for redemption in the ring, fans can expect an engaging battle ahead.
