Toluca is set to close the regular season against América with the chance to secure the top spot in the Apertura 2025. The team is also rallying its support around Portuguese striker Paulinho, who aims to reclaim the goal-scoring title in Liga MX.
As the club prepares for this pivotal match, the focus remains on assisting Paulinho in his pursuit of another scoring leader title. TUDN’s Javier Rojas highlighted the team’s determination, stating, “Above all, they will seek to support Paulinho for the goal-scoring title.”
Rojas noted that the team is puzzled as to why Paulinho did not score against Atlas in Matchday 16, but they believe they have regained the fluidity of their game that was disrupted by Alexis Vega’s injury in their match against Pachuca during Matchday 15. “They still can’t explain why Paulinho didn’t score against Atlas, whether it was due to memorable saves by Camilo Vargas or incredible misses, but they feel they reestablished their game volume in that match,” Rojas explained.
In terms of injuries, Toluca is currently without Luan for the remainder of the tournament and Vega until the Liguilla. However, the return of Brazilian player Helinho to the offensive lineup is seen as a significant boost. “Toluca is without Luan for the rest of the tournament and Alexis until the Liguilla, but they have recovered Helinho, who has been training with the team this week. This is very good news. Although he plays infrequently, when he does, he tends to make a difference,” Rojas concluded.
Toluca will face América on Saturday, November 8, at Estadio Nemesio Diez in Matchday 17 of Apertura 2025, marking the conclusion of the regular tournament as they head towards the Liga MX title playoffs. The situation appears hopeful for Toluca as they strive to finish strong and make a significant impact in the upcoming playoffs.
