Thanksgiving 2025 in Wooster: Who’s Open and Who’s Closed

Thanksgiving Day, scheduled for Thursday, November 27, 2025, will see many stores and restaurants closing their doors to allow employees to enjoy time with their families. However, several businesses will remain open for those last-minute necessities.

In Wooster, a mix of major chains and local establishments will be operating, and here’s the confirmed availability for the special day:

As reported in Campbell’s State of the Sides Report 2025, stuffing or dressing tops the chart as America’s favorite Thanksgiving side dish, followed closely by mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, macaroni and cheese, and green bean casserole.

For grocery shopping, Buehler’s Fresh Foods will be closed across all Wooster locations. Kroger, conveniently located at 2281 Burbank Rd. and 3631 Cleveland Rd., will maintain open hours from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. (please note that pharmacies will be closed). Aldi and Walmart Supercenter will also be closed on Thanksgiving Day, as will Local Roots Market & Cafe.

Pharmacy and convenience options will include CVS, which may operate regular or reduced hours, typically from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m., with some pharmacies possibly closed. Walgreens will close its stores, but the 24-hour pharmacy at 3034 Cleveland Rd. will remain open. Dollar General and Family Dollar outlets will maintain their usual hours, typically from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.

In the retail sector, all major retailers, including Walmart, Target, Lowe’s, Home Depot, Kohl’s, Best Buy, and Tractor Supply Co. (located at 3782 Burbank Rd.), have opted to remain closed on Thanksgiving Day.

When it comes to dining options, several fast-food chains and restaurants are likely to be open, though with limited hours. Establishments such as McDonald’s, Starbucks, Dunkin’, Burger King, Wendy’s, and Taco Bell are expected to welcome customers. However, local favorites like Broken Rocks Cafe, Spoon Market & Deli, Muddy’s, The Barn Restaurant in Smithville, Des Dutch Essenhaus, and Pine Tree Barn will be closed.

For those looking to enjoy a Thanksgiving meal, both Cracker Barrel and Bob Evans will be serving holiday specials.
