Texas Weather: Thunderstorms and Cooling Front on the Horizon

A weakening cold front is on the horizon, promising to usher in seasonable temperatures next week, while also bringing opportunities for thunderstorms on Friday evening and Saturday morning.

Currently, the forecast indicates the possibility of isolated strong thunderstorms, which may produce localized heavy rainfall. Nevertheless, many areas are experiencing near-record heat, which could persist for a third consecutive day.

As for rain in Houston, scattered storms are expected to develop early Friday in the Brazos Valley. These storms are forecasted to weaken as they approach the Houston metropolitan area by Friday afternoon. Meanwhile, a stalled front might bring another wave of showers and scattered storms from Friday night into Saturday morning.

Looking ahead to Thanksgiving weekend, a stronger cold front is anticipated to sweep through the region on Monday. While the area is currently experiencing dry conditions, the incoming front will likely create strong thunderstorms that may affect travel across Texas.

After Monday, another chance for rain is expected on Sunday and Monday as this cold front impacts Southeast Texas. Temperatures will remain above average until next week, with a welcoming return of fall temperatures featuring morning lows in the 50s and highs in the 60s and 70s anticipated starting Tuesday.
