Texas Rangers Unveil 2026 Coaching Staff Shakeup

The Texas Rangers have announced their coaching staff for the 2026 Major League Baseball season, which includes several familiar faces and new additions. Notably, Travis Jankowski, who became a fan favorite during the 2023 World Series, will take on the role of first-base coach. Jankowski had a remarkable stint in the series, stepping in for the injured Adolis García and contributing significantly, including a pair of RBIs in Game 4.

The Rangers’ coaching staff will see six returnees from Bruce Bochy’s previous staff, with some moving into new roles. Luis Urueta will continue as the bench coach, while Dave Bush remains in his position as assistant pitching coach. Corey Ragsdale will transition from first-base coach to third-base coach. Jordan Tiegs has been promoted to lead pitching coach, taking over the role previously held by Mike Maddux. Justin Viele is now the lead hitting coach, filling the vacancy left by Bret Boone, and Brett Hayes will shift from quality control coach to catchers coach, succeeding Bobby Wilson.

In addition to the reshuffled roles, the organization has welcomed new faces to the coaching staff. Alex Cintrón will serve as hitting coach, tasked with rejuvenating an offense that has struggled in recent seasons. Cintrón brings extensive experience from his nine years with the Houston Astros, where he oversaw a highly effective offense that led the American League in several key statistical categories during his tenure.

Rod Barajas, another new hire, is a former catcher for the Rangers and has previously worked with the Angels’ Double-A team. Colby Suggs joins the staff as the bullpen coach after spending four seasons in a similar role with the Minnesota Twins, where he contributed to impressive strikeout statistics among the team’s relievers.

As the Rangers gear up for the new season, the coaching changes could signify a fresh approach aimed at building on their recent success and enhancing their performance in a competitive league. With a blend of familiar and new strategies, fans will be eager to see how this revamped coaching staff shapes the team’s future.
