Texas A&M Sophomore’s Death in Austin After Tailgate Prompts Family to Seek Clarity

A Texas A&M sophomore, Brianna Aguilera, tragically passed away early Saturday morning in Austin, shortly after attending a tailgate for the Lone Star Showdown football game between Texas A&M and the University of Texas. Aguilera’s family is seeking clarity about the events that led to her untimely death, as details remain scarce following the gathering.

According to the Austin Police Department, Aguilera died just before 1 a.m. at a student apartment complex located near the University of Texas campus. While the cause of death is under investigation by the Travis County Medical Examiner’s office, authorities have stated that there are no indications of foul play involved.

In a heartfelt tribute to her daughter, Stephanie Rodriguez, Aguilera’s mother, expressed her sorrow and shared glimpses of Brianna’s dreams and aspirations. “She was pursuing her dream of becoming a lawyer and was attending The Bush School of Government & Public Service at Texas A&M. Her dream was to always be an AGGIE! She was a year shy of attaining her Aggie ring,” Rodriguez wrote in the description of a GoFundMe campaign set up to assist with funeral expenses.

Rodriguez also reflected on the personal connection she shared with Brianna, stating, “My baby angel and princess is with God, and I find peace in that truth.” Aguilera, who hailed from the Laredo area, was recognized as a dedicated student and a cheerleader during her time at United High School.

The GoFundMe campaign has successfully reached its funding goal but remains active as of Monday afternoon. Details regarding the funeral services for Aguilera are currently pending, as her family navigates this difficult time. Brianna Aguilera will be remembered for her aspirations and the vibrant spirit she brought to those around her.
