Tennessee’s redshirt sophomore kicker, Max Gilbert, has announced his intention to transfer from the Volunteers following the conclusion of the 2025 football season, retaining two years of eligibility. In a heartfelt statement, Gilbert explained his decision was reached after considerable reflection and discussions with family and friends. “This was a very difficult decision. I will never forget my time spent on Rocky Top and will forever cherish the moments I spent at the University of Tennessee,” he stated.

Gilbert, who stands 6 feet tall and weighs 200 pounds, has made a significant impact during his time with the Vols, participating in 26 games from 2023 to 2025. He successfully converted 34 out of 45 field goal attempts and completed an impressive 118 out of 118 extra point attempts. In the 2025 season alone, he achieved 14 out of 19 field goal attempts, showcasing his reliability as a kicker, with his longest kick being a notable 53 yards.

The NCAA transfer portal opened recently and will remain accessible until January 16, allowing players like Gilbert the opportunity to seek new venues to continue their careers as they transition out of their current programs. As Gilbert embarks on this new chapter, Tennessee fans will remember his contributions on the field and wish him well in his future endeavors.
