Teen Charged in Midnight Shooting and Crash: What Happened?

Port St. Lucie police have arrested a 15-year-old boy from Fort Pierce following a vehicle accident that occurred shortly before midnight on Tuesday in the 2600 block of South Blackwell Drive.

According to a post on X, officers arrived at the scene to find a 16-year-old boy suffering from a gunshot wound to the head and a 17-year-old girl who had been shot in the leg. Both victims were discovered next to a blue Kia that had crashed.

While the police were providing aid to the victims, a tan Chevrolet collided with a mailbox near the area. Officers attempted to stop the vehicle, but the Chevrolet soon crashed into a drainage ditch, leading to the detention of the 15-year-old driver.

The investigation revealed that the two victims were meeting the 15-year-old to sell him a THC vape cartridge for $80. During the transaction, an altercation occurred, and the 15-year-old allegedly shot both victims with a handgun. The injured individuals then drove away but lost control of their vehicle and crashed.

The 17-year-old girl is currently in stable condition and receiving treatment at a local hospital. However, the 16-year-old boy remains in critical condition at the same hospital.

The 15-year-old has been charged with attempted homicide during the commission of a felony, robbery with a firearm, aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, and unlawful possession of a firearm by a minor.

Police have stated that the Major Crimes Unit is continuing to investigate the incident, but they assure the community there is no ongoing threat.
