Tampa, Fla. — A significant drop in temperatures is anticipated for Tampa following a pleasant weekend. After enjoying warm weather in the 80s, residents can expect the coldest air of the season to sweep in, sending temperatures down 25° below the typical levels for this time of year.

On Saturday, the weather will exhibit mostly sunny skies with warm highs reaching the mid-80s. There is a 30% chance of isolated showers, particularly in inland areas around 4 p.m. As evening approaches, temperatures will gradually cool into the upper 60s and low 70s.

Sunday will begin with fog and transition into a cloudier day, with temperatures peaking in the low 80s. A cold front will approach, increasing the likelihood of passing showers. Initial shower activity might occur in the morning, but the main rainfall is expected between 1 p.m. and 3 p.m., clearing out by late afternoon. Additionally, there might be a round of showers late Sunday night into early Monday morning as the front pushes through.

Monday marks the onset of a significant cool down, with morning temperatures around 59°. A brisk wind will persist throughout the day, keeping temperatures locked in the 60s despite ample sunshine. As sunlight wanes in the afternoon, temperatures will continue to drop, highlighting the onset of the cold snap, which will peak late Monday night into Tuesday morning. With winds at around 20 mph, it will feel even colder.

Tuesday will bring record-challenging lows, with morning temperatures falling into the 30s and 40s. The anticipated record low for Tampa on this day is 40°, which aligns with expected temperatures. A Freeze Warning is likely to be issued for Citrus, Hernando, and inland Pasco Counties, as even coastal areas will experience lows in the mid to low 40s. Windy conditions will contribute to a pronounced wind chill during the day, when actual temperatures are expected to only reach the low 60s.

By Wednesday morning, temperatures will settle back into the 40s, although not as bitterly cold as on Tuesday. Under sunny skies and with lighter winds, the area will find respite as temperatures gradually rise into the cool low 70s. This forecast indicates a slow return to average temperatures as the week progresses, bringing warmer days ahead by the end of the week and into the next weekend.

With the imminent freeze, residents are encouraged to prepare for the chill while looking forward to a gradual warming trend that will follow.
