Following a successful 2025 season, the Tailevu Rugby Union is setting its sights high for 2026, with President Joe Rodan announcing a definitive goal: to clinch both the Skipper Cup and the Farebrother Trophy. Rodan highlighted that the 2025 season marked a pivotal moment for Tailevu, particularly following the transition to a new executive committee mid-season, which he described as a “baptism of fire.”

Rodan expressed optimism about the future, stating, “Now that the season is over, we have learned a lot. Using that experience, we will be much better prepared come 2026.” The president pointed to their progress, noting the union’s return to the semi-finals for the first time in 14 years as a significant achievement. “Reaching the semi-final after 14 years shows that we are moving in the right direction,” he remarked proudly.

Acknowledging the tremendous support from the Tailevu community, Rodan emphasized how vital the backing from fans and the local vanua was throughout the season. “We have the full support of the vanua and our supporters, and that gives us confidence as we move forward,” he added.

Looking ahead, Rodan shared a vision for 2026 centered on strengthening the organizational aspects of the union. “We have created Tailevu as a brand and we want to run it like a business,” he explained, aiming to operate Tailevu Rugby Union as a professional entity and to be recognized as the best-organized union in the country.

The union also celebrated its achievements at their awards night held at Vunimono Hall, signifying a strong camaraderie and recognition of effort among the players and staff. The enthusiasm surrounding the Tailevu Rugby Union showcases a hopeful outlook for what lies ahead, as the organization strives for excellence on and off the field.
