They shared that she transitioned peacefully at 8:34 am, revealing her real name, Donyelle Denise Wilson. The heartfelt tribute highlighted her roles as a wife, daughter, sister, and friend, emphasizing her strength in battling cancer throughout her life.

The family expressed that Jones exemplified unwavering spirit and joy, stating, “Her spirit never dimmed. Her heart never hardened. And even in the storm, she never lost her smile.” Jones had been diagnosed with stage 3C breast cancer nearly ten years ago, facing significant challenges including a double mastectomy, extensive chemotherapy, and the realities of metastatic breast cancer. The nonprofit organization Dancers Against Cancer provided a profile of her journey, underscoring the formidable obstacles she encountered.

Jones came to national attention during the second season of “So You Think You Can Dance,” which aired in 2006, where she secured a third-place finish, just behind Travis Wall and winner Benji Schwimmer. Her illustrious career included appearances in the 2022 holiday movie “Spirited,” starring Will Ferrell and Ryan Reynolds, and in the 2005 film “Be Cool,” featuring John Travolta and Uma Thurman.

In an emotional video shared just a week prior to her passing, Jones spoke candidly about her health struggles, including her time in hospice care. She reflected on her journey, mentioning that she had received many miracles in the past decade and expressed gratitude for the loving support she received from family, friends, and fans. “What else can I possibly ask for, but for his discernment on when it’s his time for me to have my time on this side come to an end?” she shared.
