Sukuna Bowl Boxing Day One Heats Up as Army vs Police Rivalry Continues

Foama Seru, representing the Army boxing team, delivered a strong performance to secure victory over Police’s Fenton Thaggard in the closing bout of Day One at the Vodafone Ratu Sukuna Bowl boxing competition, held at the Police Academy in Nasova yesterday afternoon. The match was stopped in the second round when Thaggard was unable to continue, marking a decisive win for Seru.

Alfred Ledua, the Army boxing head coach, expressed pride in his team’s performance, emphasizing their strategy and the hard work leading up to the event. “We worked in phases and this is the result we wanted on day one of the competition so we will come back stronger today. We always use the quote ‘hard work beats talent’ so the boys need to be working really hard,” Ledua stated.

Seru’s victory concluded a competitive day for the Army team, which showcased strong efforts amid a spirited rivalry against the Police boxing team. In contrast, the Police had a notable start earlier in the competition, winning seven out of eleven bouts on the opening day, underscoring the high level of competition between the teams. Key victories for the Police included those by their captain, Jone Davule, and lightweight competitor Petero Vunivalu, both of whom demonstrated impressive skills against their Army counterparts.

As the boxing competition continues today and heads into its final stages tomorrow, expectations are high for even more exhilarating contests. The event not only highlights the athletic talents of both teams but also strengthens community ties through sports, inspiring future generations of boxing enthusiasts. The final matches promise to deliver the excitement and rivalry that have characterized this year’s Sukuna Bowl Boxing competition.
