Steam is currently facing a significant outage that is hindering users’ ability to access the game store and play games online. Although Valve has not formally addressed the issue, reports from SteamDB’s unofficial Steam Status page indicate that the Steam Store, Steam Community, and associated web APIs are down.

At approximately 1:15 PM ET, DownDetector logged over 6,000 outage reports. This disruption is also making Valve’s mobile apps inaccessible. The outage appears to be particularly affecting the APIs for several of Valve’s popular online games, including Team Fortress 2, Dota 2, and Counterstrike 2.

This incident follows a series of outages for Steam, the most recent major disruption occurring in October when services were down for an hour. In September, the anticipated launch of Hollow Knight: Silksong caused a similar outage that affected not only Steam but also the Xbox Store and Nintendo’s eShop due to an overwhelming number of users attempting to download the game simultaneously.

While outages can be frustrating for gamers eager to play their favorite titles, they also serve as a reminder of the increasing demand on online gaming services. Users hope for a swift resolution from Valve to restore access to the platform and its games.
