St. Louis Snow Triggers Road Delays and Early Dismissals — What Drivers Should Know

ST. LOUIS — The snowfall in the St. Louis region on Monday afternoon has resulted in several vehicle accidents, prompting officials to advise caution on the roads as snow is expected to persist into the early evening.

As of 12:30 p.m. on Monday, the Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) reported multiple crashes affecting traffic flow. Notably, the right lane on eastbound I-44 is closed at Elm Avenue due to a collision. Additionally, traffic is backed up on westbound Interstate 70 at Lake Saint Louis Boulevard, where two left lanes are currently closed following another crash. Similar issues have been reported on westbound I-64 at Lindbergh, where the left lane is also closed, leading to delays.

In light of the hazardous road conditions, MoDOT is urging drivers to refrain from traveling during the snowfall, maintain a safe distance from snowplows, and exercise caution while on the roads. Motorists are encouraged to check road conditions using MoDOT’s traveler map before embarking on any journey.

Local school districts, including Wentzville, Francis Howell, and Fort Zumwalt, have decided to let students out early and have canceled after-school activities in response to the challenging weather conditions.

Updates on the weather and road conditions will continue to be provided as the situation develops. The snowfall serves as a reminder for drivers to remain vigilant during winter weather and prioritize safety.
