The San Antonio Spurs are entering the 2026 NBA All-Star break on a high note, holding the second-best record in the Western Conference. As the league gears up for the All-Star festivities set for February 13-15 in Los Angeles, a select group of Spurs players are preparing for a busy weekend.

In a noteworthy achievement, Spurs head coach Mitch Johnson has been named an All-Star coach for the first time in his career, joining the ranks of Spurs legends by becoming just the second in franchise history to earn this distinction since Gregg Popovich in 2016. Johnson’s selection is a testament to the Spurs’ stellar performance this season, as they secured the best record in the Western Conference among teams eligible for All-Star coaching consideration as of February 1.

In the new format highlighting competition between U.S. and World teams, Johnson will lead Team Stripes. This change represents an exciting evolution for the All-Star game, promising an engaging showcase of talent.

Victor Wembanyama, the Spurs’ standout center, has been voted as a starter in his second All-Star Game, marking his first appearance in the starting five. He clinched the final spot among Western Conference starters over Minnesota’s Anthony Edwards, drawn from fan voting tiebreakers. Wembanyama will be representing Team World, which features international players, further showcasing his global appeal.

Stephon Castle, in his second year, will also contribute to Spurs’ representation by participating in the Rising Stars tournament. Drafted by Hall of Famer Carmelo Anthony as the youngest player in NBA history to achieve a 40-point triple-double, Castle will bring his remarkable skills to the competition. A standout performance of 40 points, 12 rebounds, and 12 assists against the Dallas Mavericks on February 7 highlighted his ascendance this season.

Castle will be joined by rookie Dylan Harper, renowned for his dynamic energy and scoring prowess, in the Rising Stars challenge. Together, they are dubbed the “Slash Brothers” for their exciting playstyle and ability to attack the rim.

However, the team will be without two-way player David Jones-Garcia, who recently underwent season-ending ankle surgery after sustaining an injury during a G League game. This unfortunate twist adds complexity to the Spurs’ All-Star representation.

In a revival of the Shooting Stars event, Harper will collaborate with his father, Ron Harper, a former NBA champion, and his brother, Ron Harper Jr. Each participating team combines current players with a former legend, promising an exciting blend of talent and legacy.

Additionally, rookie Carter Bryant is set to face off in the Slam Dunk contest, an opportunity he initially doubted he would receive after early-season challenges. He will compete against notable players including Jaxson Hayes of the Los Angeles Lakers.

As Spurs players take part in the All-Star events, fans remain hopeful for more milestones and a successful continuation of the season, building upon their impressive performances leading into the break. With a mix of emerging talents and proven leaders, the Spurs aim to make a significant impact on and off the court during this All-Star weekend.
