A New Jersey actor, Ernest Heinz, has been indicted on serious charges connected to a road rage incident that took place near Stockton University. The 47-year-old actor from Port Republic is accused of shooting a woman in the face during this altercation that occurred close to the university’s main campus.

The incident unfolded on September 11, 2025, when both Heinz and the woman were merging onto a single lane on South Pomona Road. After an initial encounter, the two met again moments later. Allegations state that Heinz shouted threats from his vehicle before firing at least one round into the woman’s car. According to prosecutors, he reportedly told her, “I’m going to kill you.”

Shortly after the shooting, Heinz returned to his home in Port Republic carrying a handgun, which investigators linked to the incident through surveillance footage. He also retrieved bags containing a rifle and other items linked to his friend’s storage unit.

Heinz is facing multiple charges, including first-degree attempted murder, aggravated assault, and weapon offenses. Earlier this month, a grand jury issued a notable 31-count indictment against him. His attorney, Robin Kay Lord, has contested the attempted murder assessment, suggesting that the circumstances may fit the classification of passion-provocation manslaughter. Despite her pleas for his release on house arrest, a judge has ordered Heinz to remain incarcerated until his trial.

Heinz, who has a background as a real estate broker, has a dozen acting credits to his name, including a part in the acclaimed series “The Sopranos.” His upcoming arraignment is scheduled for late January.

This disturbing incident highlights the growing concerns surrounding road rage and violence. As many communities continue to explore strategies to reduce such occurrences, it is hoped that this case will serve as a catalyst for increased awareness and the implementation of prevention measures.
