Sony Teases PlayStation-Branded Gaming Monitor With DualSense Charging Hook

Sony recently held a State of Play event, showcasing an array of new game releases for the PS5 aimed primarily at the Japanese and Asian markets. Among the highlights of the event was a surprising reveal: a new PlayStation-branded gaming monitor, set to enhance the gaming experience for users.

The monitor features a 27-inch QHD IPS display, delivering an impressive refresh rate of up to 240Hz with PC connections and 120Hz for PS5 users. A standout feature is a charging hook specifically designed for the PS5 DualSense controller, allowing users to both hold and charge their controllers seamlessly while gaming. This innovative accessory reflects Sony’s ongoing strategy to introduce its own branded peripherals to enhance the PlayStation ecosystem.

In addition to the monitor, Sony’s recent efforts have included the introduction of products like the Pulse Elevate wireless speakers, aimed at PS5 users and scheduled for release in 2026. This follows the launch of the Pulse Explore earbuds and the Pulse Elite wireless headset, both tailored to improve audio experiences for gamers. Moreover, the release of the PlayStation Portal handheld device facilitates remote gaming, showcasing Sony’s commitment to expanding its hardware offerings.

Following the event, the company detailed the monitor’s specifications on its PlayStation Blog. The specs are impressive, featuring a Quad High Definition IPS panel with a resolution of up to 2,560 x 1,440 pixels, integrated High Dynamic Range support with Auto HDR Tone Mapping for dynamic adjustments on PS5 and PS5 Pro consoles, and Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) capabilities. The monitor will also include two HDMI IN ports and one DisplayPort IN port for versatile connectivity with PS5, PC, and Mac devices. Additionally, it will have built-in stereo speakers and compatibility with select VESA mounting systems for a customizable setup.

Although no specific release date for the monitor was provided, it is expected to launch in both the US and Japan in 2026. Pricing details have yet to be announced, but given its unique features and PlayStation branding, it is anticipated to be priced higher than standard gaming monitors on the market.

This exciting development from Sony highlights its ongoing focus on enhancing the gaming experience through innovative hardware, ensuring that PlayStation fans have access to high-quality peripherals to elevate their gameplay. As the gaming landscape continues to evolve, Sony’s commitment to providing cutting-edge technology promises to keep it at the forefront of the industry.
