The Solomon Islands government has issued a warning to its citizens against traveling to the Middle East following recent military actions involving the United States and Israel targeting Iran. In retaliation, Iran has conducted rocket attacks on Israeli locations as well as U.S. military bases, resulting in damage to civilian areas as well.

In a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and External Trade, citizens were strongly advised to avoid the region until the situation stabilizes. The ministry has urged Solomon Islanders living in the Gulf Region and Israel to exercise caution, stay calm, adhere to the directives from local authorities, and keep updated with trustworthy news sources.

Additionally, the Solomon Islands’ embassy in the United Arab Emirates is actively monitoring the evolving situation and will relay information back to officials in Honiara. New Zealand has similarly cautioned its travelers and citizens in the Middle East, reflecting a broader concern for safety in the region amidst the escalating tensions.

This proactive approach by both governments underscores the importance of ensuring citizen safety during periods of international conflict. It is hoped that diplomatic efforts will soon restore peace and stability, allowing for safe travel and normalcy to return in the region.
