Park City is gearing up to welcome February’s first full moon, known as the Snow Moon, a traditional indicator of the heaviest snowfall during winter months in North America and Europe. As residents and visitors anticipate this celestial event, there’s a shared hope that it may signal a change in weather patterns, potentially bringing much-needed snow to the area.

However, concerns linger as of January 29, with no snow forecasted for the Wasatch Back and over 90% of Utah facing ongoing drought conditions. This stark reality contrasts with the optimistic spirit of the Snow Moon celebration.

To enhance the skiing experience, local bakery Auntie Em’s will be stationed at the base of First Time from 6 to 8 p.m., offering complimentary cookies and hot cocoa for those gearing up for or winding down from a day on the slopes.

Additionally, Park City Mountain provides free uphill access to skiers and splitboarders daily, from 6 p.m. to 8 a.m., encouraging outdoor enthusiasts to make the most of the winter landscape.

This community celebration, supported by Park City Mountain, demonstrates a positive spirit as residents strive to enjoy the winter season while hoping for more snow to enhance the conditions for all.
