SNL Season 51 December Lineup: McCarthy, Grande, Cher Set to Host

“Saturday Night Live” (SNL) has unveiled an exciting lineup of hosts and musical guests scheduled through the end of 2025. Notably, there will be a two-week hiatus after the November 15 episode featuring Glen Powell and Olivia Dean, with the next episode set to air on December 6, 2025. This much-anticipated return will see actress and comedian Melissa McCarthy take the helm, accompanied by musical guest Dijon.

Following McCarthy, actor Josh O’Connor will host the December 13 episode, with pop star Lily Allen as the musical guest. This episode will mark Allen’s return to the SNL stage since her last appearance in February 2007, where she will showcase songs from her new album “West End Girl.” The final episode of 2025 will air on December 20, featuring pop icon Ariana Grande hosting, along with legendary singer Cher as the musical guest. Cher’s return is noteworthy as it has been 38 years since her previous performance on the show in November 1987.

This season, both Dijon and O’Connor are poised to make their SNL debuts, while renowned artists Allen and Cher will be reprising their roles on the show. McCarthy, a familiar face on the SNL stage, will be hosting for the sixth time, while Grande, a staple in the show’s musical landscape, has previously hosted twice and appeared as a musical guest three times.

After Grande and Cher’s episode, “SNL” will take a break for the holiday season, resuming mid-January. This seasonal format allows for a refreshing pause, enabling the show to return with new content and creative ideas.
