Two Fijian men are among six individuals charged in connection with a significant cocaine seizure that occurred in Vatia, Tavua, last week. The group, which includes four Ecuadorian nationals, appeared before Magistrate Timoci Qaninauci at the Rakiraki Magistrates Court.

The accused foreign nationals are Alejandro Juvenal Yagual Gonzalez, 47, Luciano Enrique Mero Sanchez, 47, Jonathan Javier Solorzano Bermello, 30, and Ramon Isidro Vega Parraga, 52. The Fijian men charged are 24-year-old Bainivalu Suguturaga from Veisaru, Ba, and 32-year-old Munendra, a carrier operator also from Ba.

The Ecuadorian nationals have been advised to seek legal representation for their case. Suguturaga is represented by Filimoni Daveta, while Munendra will be defended by Mohammed Yunus. All six accused individuals have been remanded in custody and are scheduled to appear again in the Lautoka High Court on February 4.

The case highlights ongoing challenges in addressing drug trafficking in the region, but it also underscores the commitment of law enforcement to act decisively against illegal drug activities.
