In a recent episode of Cam Newton’s Funky Friday podcast, reality television personality Natalie Nunn made a surprising revelation about her college days, claiming that basketball legend Shaquille O’Neal gifted her a luxury car. At around the 2:08:10 mark during the podcast, Nunn reminisced about her time at the University of Southern California, mentioning the extravagant present she received from Shaq.
“He bought me my first car,” Nunn stated, prompting a curious reaction from the host, Cam Newton, who immediately inquired if they had dated. Nunn quickly clarified, “No, I never dated Shaq,” which led Newton to quip, “Something ain’t adding up.” Their playful exchange continued as Nunn attempted to dismiss questions about the relationship, explaining, “Yeah, but he bought me my first car!”
Detailing the gift further, Nunn recalled receiving a brand new Volkswagen New Beetle convertible, adding, “I was at USC, I was young. Shaq played for the Lakers, USC was down the street.” Given that the car she described was a 2004 model, it places her around 19 or 20 years old at the time of the gift.
Now 41, Nunn broke into the spotlight through reality shows like Bad Girls Club and Love Games, while Shaquille O’Neal, aged 53, played for the Los Angeles Lakers from 1996 to 2004. Although the exact timeline of Nunn’s attendance at USC remains unclear, she emphasized her ongoing friendship with Shaq.
As Newton persisted in teasing her about the nature of their relationship, Nunn maintained her stance, saying, “Nothing… I was a USC student athlete. He loved soccer. He used to come to the games. He’s still my friend.”
This light-hearted conversation not only offered a glimpse into Nunn’s past but also showcased the playful camaraderie between the two hosts. The candidness of the discussion reflects the often unexpected connections made during formative years and serves as a reminder of the friendships that can endure over time.
