Kurt Iswarienko, the ex-husband of the late actress Shannen Doherty, is currently engaged in a legal battle over claims that he owes money related to their divorce settlement, according to exclusive reports. The conflict arises two years after Doherty’s passing on July 13, 2024, following a long struggle with cancer.
On January 14, Iswarienko’s attorney filed court documents claiming that the allegations surrounding the divorce settlement were improperly brought to court. The divorce agreement was signed just one day before Doherty’s death, with Iswarienko signing it on the day she passed away. The legal proceedings for the divorce were officially entered in court on July 15, 2024.
In his recent submission, Iswarienko contends that the divorce case should have concluded with Doherty’s death, arguing that the agreement should not have been filed and that the court lacks jurisdiction to enforce its terms. This legal dispute comes in the wake of claims from Doherty’s estate alleging that Iswarienko has failed to adhere to the conditions of their divorce agreement.
Doherty’s estate asserts that Iswarienko was obliged to list a property in Dripping Springs, Texas, valued at approximately $1.5 million, but has not done so. Furthermore, the estate is seeking a share of certain photographs and artwork created by Iswarienko during their marriage. According to the divorce agreement, Doherty was entitled to 50% of any licensing or syndication fees related to Iswarienko’s creative works produced during their relationship.
Additionally, the estate has accused him of failing to pay $50,274 to buy out Doherty’s interest in a shared airplane and hangar, as stipulated in the divorce agreement. Before her death, Doherty had waived her right to pursue support from Iswarienko, citing her health issues that hampered her ability to work.
Doherty and Iswarienko were married in 2011, and she filed for divorce in 2023 amid her battle with cancer.
