Scott Adams, the creator of the widely recognized “Dilbert” cartoon, is currently receiving hospice care as he battles metastatic prostate cancer. The 68-year-old artist’s health has rapidly declined, and he is now believed to have only a few days left to live, according to his first ex-wife, Shelly Miles, who spoke with TMZ. She revealed that he is being cared for at his Northern California home by family members, including her sister and his stepdaughter, alongside a team of nurses.

Adams publicly disclosed his cancer diagnosis in May 2025, revealing he was diagnosed with stage 4 prostate cancer that had spread to his bones. Last month, he shared a distressing update, stating that a tumor on his spine had left him paralyzed from the waist down. In a video posted on his YouTube channel, he described his condition, expressing a glimmer of hope that radiation treatment might restore some strength to his lower body.

Despite exploring alternative treatments such as ivermectin and fenbendazole with his doctor’s approval, Adams reported minimal improvement. On January 1, he candidly discussed the severity of his situation on his podcast, revealing that his radiologist indicated there was essentially no chance of recovery.

Adams launched “Dilbert” in 1989, gaining fame for its sharp satire of office culture. At its peak, the comic strip was featured in approximately 2,000 newspapers across 65 countries, leading to an array of adaptations, including books, an animated series, and various merchandise. However, the cartoon faced significant backlash in 2023 when it was dropped by hundreds of newspapers after Adams made controversial remarks about race, declaring Black Americans a “hate group” and suggesting that white people distance themselves from them.

Adams’ journey highlights the challenges faced by individuals confronting serious health issues and the intricate ways personal and public narratives intertwine. His work, though now complicated by his public controversies, remains a complex part of modern cultural commentary. As he navigates these final days, the outpouring of concern from fans and followers reveals the lasting impact of his creative legacy.
