When the Tennessee Titans selected Cam Ward with the first overall pick last year, it sent a clear message regarding the team’s view on Will Levis as their future franchise quarterback. Initially projected as a backup, Levis found his prospects derailed in July when he was placed on injured reserve due to a shoulder injury that necessitated surgery, sidelining him for the entire 2025 season.
A second-round draft choice in 2023, Levis enters the final year of his rookie contract with valuable playing experience, having made 21 starts across his first two seasons. Recently, new head coach Robert Saleh shared his thoughts on Levis during his press conference at the scouting combine.
“I just met him and had a really good conversation the other day,” Saleh stated. He recollected their encounter during the Titans’ matchup in Week 2 of 2024, emphasizing Levis’s impressive talent, physical stature, and arm strength. “I look forward to working with him, and I told him to attack this offseason, have the best offseason of your life, compete hard, and let’s see what happens. I’m really looking forward to him being part of this football team.”
Saleh underscored the importance of finding a backup who can not only support the starting quarterback but also step in competently if called upon. “You want a player who can win games for you if something happens to the starter, someone who will prepare like a starter and contribute positively to the team.”
Levis’s performance in previous seasons showcases a promising foundation. In his rookie year, he started nine games, completing 58.4% of his passes for 1,808 yards, with eight touchdowns against four interceptions. He improved during his sophomore year, starting 12 games with a completion rate of 63.1%, throwing for 2,091 yards, and registering 13 touchdowns to 12 interceptions.
With Saleh’s belief in Levis’s capabilities and the expectations for his growth during this offseason, there remains an opportunity for him to reclaim a significant role in the Titans’ plans moving forward.
