In a notable development off the field, the RaNadi Touch Initiative in Nadi is making strides in community transformation by addressing critical social issues through sports. This innovative program, spearheaded by the Nadi Touch Rugby Association (NTRA), recently hosted an impactful leadership training session that aims to combat gender inequality, youth vulnerability, and social exclusion.

The initiative showcases a powerful partnership among the private sector, government, and grassroots organizations. Funded by the Australian Government’s Team Up program and the International Olympic Committee (IOC) through the Play for Equity Fund, the initiative benefits from significant sponsorship and support. Radisson Blu Resort Fiji has made a considerable contribution, providing $6,000 in sponsorship along with world-class facilities, which enhances the program’s execution in a professional and safe environment.

The training sessions are facilitated by Leadership Fiji and NTRA, ensuring a culturally relevant curriculum that resonates with the local community. Launched in late 2025, the RaNadi Training Initiative is particularly focused on empowering women who are already leaders in various sectors of society, be it business, education, or domestic roles.

By integrating leadership development with touch rugby, the program circumvents the conventional “stand-alone activity” approach, fostering a sustainable network of female leaders who can effect change in local norms and tackle community challenges like substance abuse and safety concerns.
