Robert Englund, the 78-year-old actor renowned for his iconic role as Freddy Krueger, is set to receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in a ceremony scheduled to take place on Halloween. The event will begin at 11:30 a.m. Pacific Time at 6644 Hollywood Blvd., featuring guest speakers including director Eli Roth and actress Heather Langenkamp.

Ana Martinez, producer of the Walk of Fame, expressed excitement about Englund’s recognition, noting, “The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce is proud to welcome Robert Englund to the Hollywood Walk of Fame.” She emphasized the significance of the timing, stating, “The timing of having Robert’s star on Halloween is most fitting as Robert’s legacy is deeply entwined with the very spirit of Halloween. Fans and industry peers alike will gather to celebrate a performer whose iconic work continues to haunt and inspire audiences around the globe.”

Englund’s career has been extensive, with over 80 film appearances and numerous television roles, but he is most celebrated for his portrayal of Freddy Krueger in New Line Cinema’s “A Nightmare on Elm Street” franchise. His journey began in 1984 when he auditioned for a horror film directed by Wes Craven, who was already known for his previous works such as “Last House on the Left” and “The Hills Have Eyes.” Initially seeking a larger stuntman for the role of Freddy, Craven ultimately cast Englund for his unique ability to embody both menace and gravitas, creating a terrifying yet memorable character that has captivated audiences for decades.

The success of “A Nightmare on Elm Street” led to seven sequels, transformed it into a merchandising phenomenon, and solidified New Line Cinema’s reputation as “The House That Freddy Built.” Englund’s enduring legacy in the horror genre continues to influence new generations, further cementing his status as an icon on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
